At the beginning of 2024, researchers will launch Europe's first billion dollar supercomputer, Jupiter. This huge machine can perform billions of calculations per second. Researchers will use the machine to create a "digital twin" model for medical purposes and conduct high-resolution simulations of the Earth's climate.

US researchers will install two billion dollar computers in 2024, Aurora at the Lemont Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois and El Capitan at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. Scientists will use Aurora to create brain neural circuit diagrams and El Capitan to simulate the effects of nuclear weapon explosions.
